  • I try to leave them alone but do spray the odd fly if it’s bugging the kitchen or mosquito the bedroom Also do ants if they come in. Sometimes surface spray on the ceilings if too many cobwebs! But don’t want to blanket eradicate those that aren’t “bugging” us and which we don’t notice.

  • Natural pesticides like beer traps etc are great

  • Has anybody tried a safe one on their clothes line without damaging it? I have sprayed into the hinges of my clothes line and they still leave webs overnight. It is a line that folds down and can be attached to a wall or posts

  • I use the Mortein bug bombs. You set them off spraying in your house and then leave home for at least 2 hours. You need to secure your home before setting the spray off. When you get home, you have to open all windows and doors to clear the spray. Works well for a few months

  • I love Nadine’s suggestions. I will try the peppermint oil one!!

  • Spiders don’t like the smells of strong odours such as cinnamon, eucalyptus and citrus. Use cinnamon candles and spray eucalyptus and lemon/orange oil in areas where you often see webs. I use a mixture of water and liquid dish soap to spray around the garage and outdoor space to deter them too. And Peppermint is amazing – Spiders HATE the smell of peppermint. Fill a spray bottle with water and 10-15 drops of peppermint essential oil and spray in places spiders tend to hide—under furniture, in closets, and in other corners and crevices of your house. In addition, add a couple drops of peppermint oil to a cotton ball and keep in those areas.

  • My yard is pretty well fine. I have 2 dogs we do it once a year professionally. Although I have noticed over the years the price has increased.

  • I prefer the professionals (or at least our pest guy) he knows and uses the correct safe sprays.

  • I am trying to do it twice or three times a year.
