Hello!

My 9 year old girls is starting to have smelly pits and I’m not overly keen on her using deodorant yet. Does anyone have any good herbal/natural products that we could try. I don’t want her getting picked on so will use deodorant if nothing else works, but I’m not keen on all the chemicals used.

  • the natural ones aren’t very strong either so you can still get that whiff of b.o.. might be fine if it is only a little smell issue.

  • You could try bi-carbonate soda or cornflour in a sprinkle container. The other option is a lot of people love the crystals you can buy and rub on your skin they last a long time and seem to work for most people. You should be able to get one at a good Health Food Store or the internet. Hope it helps

  • yeah try a few products and see what works best for your daughter’s body.

  • Make sure your daughter is keeping up with personal hygiene.
This is just a part of growing up, it may worsen as she gets older.
Have a chat with your pharmacist, they may be able to show you a chemical free product.

  • My sis in law had this problem with her youngest though a boy. She would pick him up after school and would not kiss/cuddle him until he had a shower then he get a kiss/cuddle. She used crystals after a while as she realised it could not go on and her older boys wanted nothing to do with him. By mid teens something happen and it stopped. Poor kid was showering 3 times a day, even in the early dads had his father go in to check if he was washing. Yes a girl would have more problem.

  • Yes, I’d go with crystal body deodorants too.

  • It is important to take care of body odour when you are teen as it is good for confidence and self esteem.

  • Health foods stores have friendly deodorants – check them out.

  • what about a cyrstal stick it is meant to be free of the yucky chemicals

  • A gentle scrub or loofa will help remove dead skin cells which may help with odour

  • I have heard of rubbing a crystal under there. But I’m not sure what crystal nor where to get it. Sorry
