Hello!

Does anyone know how I would do this? leave it to the experts? I tried but my hair is now a weird redish colour.

  • I’m no or a hair dresser, but I did have a lot of experience bleaching my hair. You may have to bleach multiple times as your hair will go through a process of lightening each stage.

  • And of course you can always go for a nice short cut ;)

  • Same thing happened to me. I just went back to brown.

  • Definitely go to a hairdresser. It takes a while to achieve the right colour & requires a lot of maintenance but I loved mine blonde.

  • Yes I would go to the hair dressers too :)

  • It certainly takes a few goes to get it blonde and each time you do it, it damages your hair more. I recommend a hairdresser

  • Often hairdressing schools offer cheap or discounted services. Maybe an idea to check it out?

  • I’d get it done professionally as your hair would need to be stripped back.

  • Brown hair has red undertones and almost always goes red or orange after a first attempt. The immediate solution is toner. Google hair colour theory to see which shade you need to use to correct the tone. Obviously it wont be blonde yet. Then wait a minimum of 1 month and you can bleach it again. Use a low vol creme peroxide also I find blue blonde bleach powder works better for my dark brown hair. Remember to use toner again to get it to a better blonde tone without the orange or gold. It may take 2-3 bleaches to get the shade of blonde you want depending on your hair and how light you are going. Also google “bleach bath” as this can help maintain the shade you would like. Don’t tone more than once a week as it drys out your hair and ALWAYS wait minimum of 4 weeks between bleaching.

  • Maybe get some advice from a salon. They may be able to direct you to the right products for this process. I have a friend that underwent this first process/colouring at the salon and with advice and the right products maintains the colour change.

  • Being me would add foils or straks with Swartscofe Nordic blond will highlight your red to carry on, look trendy and if all else fails have a snappy short hair cut to take you through the funky hair colour day it is true.
If you can afford it have it professionally done, if not then refer to stage number one

  • The hairdresser can use a reversing solution. but it is still a process. Wear beanies or cool big head scarves while allowing hair roots to grow out. Premature dying will just result in more disappointment.

  • I would definitely leave to the professionals! Good Luck!
