  • I just spent the morning removing bad stains from a carpet in a rental property. The tenants had moved out and supposedly cleaned the carpets but there were black marks everywhere like something had been trodden into the carpet. Anyway, I used Long Life Carpet Spot Remover which was so easy to use and lifted and removed every stain (with the help of elbow grease).

  • For very bad stains a professional is probably your only option, & sometimes they can not even get the job done!
But if your prepared to scrub a bit yourself first try some dishwash detergent on the stain & scrub profusely.

  • Cool! There really interesting comments on this!

  • Bissell make a great stain remover – you find it where they sell the chemicals for their cleaning machines. It is a spray bottle one.

  • some stains will now be your friends for life – sorry, but I too know the joy of stain friends!

  • I need this answer too.. :(

  • there are some good comments here

  • Nappy san spray, have not heard of it but worth a go.

  • Some good advice there below.

  • i use the napi san foam spray, it looks pretty good when its dry and vacuumed.

  • Those carpet cleaners you can hire from Woolworths or Coles are pretty good. also, preen carpet stain remover works well too if its just a few spots.

  • Spend the money an get a professional out :)

  • cover with rugs after having professionally cleaned

  • these tips are great :)

  • I’d get a professional carpet cleaner in to take care of it. We had cream carpets in our old house and they were a nightmare. I tried everything and nothing worked better than the pro’s! They also told us that the canned carpet cleaner you buy from the supermarket can actually make the problem worse and set the stain into the carpet instead of removing it.
