Hello!

I’ve been told the safest placing of baby in cot is to move them down so their feet just touch the rails at the bottom and then tuck them in. Do you do that too?

  • I have heard that but mine was always in the middle and always tuck the baby blanket UNDER their little arms . I was told that from day one , but if it a baby wrap , it is ok to wrap them securely .

  • I place mine in roughly the middle of the cot. Then I tuck them in. I would be worried about them wriggling up.and out from under the covers if they started at the bottom of the cot

  • My baby moves around the cot to much, so I put him in a sleep bag and place him in the cot, when I check on him before bed he can be up the other end, facing the other way.

  • i put them in the middle of the cot

  • Mom56312, our 2 were the same. In fact the younger one still does in the warm weather. On a double width sofa bed he is likely to be the other side by the morning. How he hasn’t fallen off his bed I don’t know. He sleeps fairly heavily and you know when he is asleep becuase he is a snorer. I pity the lady who marries him. Sleeping bags are a good alternative in Winter, not in Summer unless have the airconditioning on pretty cold. One way of keeping them warm in winter if they won’t keep their arms under the blankets it to put a t-shirt on under their PJs. to help keep their upper body warm…or if they are still in nappies put a summer body suit instead of a t-shirt. In fact they are better for babies that singlets. Singlets roll up their backs. They must be uncomfortable to lie on for hours. We found our bubs were more contented in them. I know a couple of Mums who used your cot idea. It worked well.

  • When my kids were young i found the best thing to do was to use a baby sleeping bag as it kept them safe an there was no chance of getting lost under the bed covers. My oldest was a wiggler and would move all the way around his bed at night time so it was a struggle to have a blanket in his bed at any time. He would have his head at the end of the bed in the middle of the night and when i checked him later his head would be at the other end of the bed,

  • I always placed them in the middle and they work their way up or down during sleep time so i just regularly checked on them.

  • I always just place my little ones in the middle. They ended up moving anyway. whether I wrapped them or not they were like little Houdini’s! My kids never had bassinets just the cot and I did this from the day they were born.

  • I have tried this with my own children and never worked as they were movers in their sleep so was a waste of time. Or they would move down and get frustrated as they had to be moved up. My grand daughter sleeps this way, she is 7 months and is ok with it, in her cot and when she was in a bassinet, My children have 30 years between oldest and youngest.
