Hello!

We just have fly screen doors with our sliding doors at home and was wondering if it is worth the money to get security screen doors? Was thinking maybe because we have small children and don’t want them to just open and go, we want something lockable?

  • We have fly screens not worth it unless you live in a dodgy area.

  • Yes we lock them with a key. We rent our house and the lock was not working. We contacted the agency with the question to have it fixed for safety reasons as we have 2 escapists. They came to fix it the next day :)

  • I think they’re a very good idea.

  • It was one of the first things I did when we moved into our new home – new locks and new security screens.

  • Yes, security screen doors are definitely worth the expense for your own peace of mind.

  • Yes, it’s definitely a good idea. Our (then) four year old helpfully decided to go out and get the newspaper one morning – at 5am when no-one else was up. It’s definitely best to make it hard for them to go wandering!

  • You can never be too safe with kids. Even the sensible ones will have moments when they don’t think. We have security screen doors and think they’re a good investment. Plus it means in summer you can leave the doors open but locked at night to get fresh air in the house.

  • yes it is good! safety reasons! if you get a lock also for the top of your door, the kids won’t be able to access it.

  • Might invest in some then! :)

  • I do want that peace of mind

  • We have security screen doors. I like the peace of mind they give me, especially if I’m home alone over night. Great idea for keeping the kids in too

  • Security doors are a good investment for safety and security.

  • Love security screens. They can be locked and fresh air can flow through the house. I can also lock the front security door and be out in the back garden with certainty that kids cannot get out the front nor open the front yo strangers.

  • I think definetly if you are concerned about the kids getting out. we’re renting with security doors and if I don’t lock them closed my 2 year old opens them and gets out.
