Hello!

I’m thinking about changing my son’s school at the end of this term. I’m not happy with the inconsistent teaching and the lack of progress, he’s in grade one. Am I being a pushy mum wanting my son to move forward not backward? I know he’s not going to like me if I do it. Should I give him a bit more time to get back into school or move him before he falls even further behind? Should I change my son’s school?

  • I would wait at least another year to see whether things change.

  • He’s only in grade one, I would give it more time. Changing schools is a big deal for a kid. Don’t put him through that unless you absolutely have to

  • How did your son go in Year 2?

  • I agree with MoM81879. A different teacher will make all the difference.

  • I would give it more time. It might just be the teacher, could be different next year. Help him at home to ensure he doesn’t slip too far behind academically

  • Would love to hear what you did and how your son is getting on

  • If your not happy with the teaching at the school and you don’t feel that your son is progressing I would definately change schools.

  • If you are not happy within a school and they are not willing to address the issue, I would definitely move schools. Education is important and every parent wants the best for their child.

  • there are some good comments here

  • I noticed how long ago you posted this. Wondering how things are going?

  • If you stayed – how did he end up going?

  • Approach his teacher with your concerns,he still might be finding his feet with the school routine.see if the teacher has any concerns and let them know yours so it might ease you mind or at least give you a more informed base to make a decision.

  • I agree with KATE_REID about talking to the teacher

  • Did you end up changing schools?

  • What did you end up doing?
