Hello!

My husband eats meat but I am a vegetarian. He wants our daughter to eat meat, but I would prefer her not to. What should I do? If I should give her meat, what should it be and how often should she eat it? She is 6 months old. I would love some advice please.

  • She can, but she doesn’t have to at all.
My husband eats meat, whilst I’m a vegetarian. My kids grew up vegetarian and grew up strong, happy and healthy with little illnesses. My youngest is besides vegetarian also on a diary free diet

  • This involves health and can lead to malnutrition if you are not careful. Best to consult a doctor and/or childhood nurse as at least they can find alternatives if you insist on it. I think it is best to wait a bit longer at least till they start school as they need all the nutrients they can get for development .

  • They need high levels of iorn. Make sure you seek advice from a dietitian if you choose veggie.

  • Its ok, just make sure its mashed!

  • You can start meat. Just puree it up really fine and mix it in with vegies.

  • what did you decide on?

  • We didn’t start on meat until maybe 9 months and it is always only a little to start with. At 18 months now there are still a lot more cereals, fruits and vegetables in comparison to meat.

  • What did you end up deciding to do?

  • How did you go with trying the meat?

  • I would offer it to her and be guided by her until such time as she can make an informed decision.

  • Did you end up trying the meat?

  • I would offer it to her, I think she has the right to experience meat, and then when she is old enough to make her own decisions, she can choose herself- I have a similar situation, except the only meat I do eat is fish, but I feed my kids meat, and will leave it up to them if they wish not to eat it-it is not my choice to make in the end-it is theirs when they are old enough.

  • Offer it to her and if she refuses then don’t but if she eats it then do

  • A-Edwards read the question again, her husband DOES eat meat, shes a vegetarian. Yes, I believe you should give her meat.

  • That’s odd that he wants ur. Hold to eat meat if u both don’t
