  • If it was during the night and you know bubs had a full belly when he went to bed, then no I wouldn’t wake him. If you’re feeding him, you might need to get up to express but personally I wouldn’t wake him.
If it was during the day then I probably would.

  • yes, wake them every 4-5 hours but if you are concerned or would like them to sleep longer I would talk to GP. it also depends too – if he’s formula feed, they can be known to sleep longer than breastfed.

  • Newborns will wake up and want to be fed about every 3-4 hours at first. Do not let your newborn sleep longer than 5 hours at a time in the first 5-6 weeks. After that, it’s OK to let your baby sleep for longer periods of time, certainly at night !

  • A new born needs it nourishment so yes l would wake them. But as the baby gets older l tended to let them sleep, especially if it was the evening sleep so it would eventually lead them to sleeping through the night.

  • Only on doctors recommendation. But if your baby is healthy and flinging weight, then no way do you wake a sleeping baby. They will wake themselves when hungry

  • No. Nooooo. They will wake up when they are hungry. Never wake a sleeping baby.

  • If it was me, I’d let the baby sleep.

  • I

  • Depends on how old bub is and how long between feeds. If he’s tiny, don’t let it go too long between feeds. If they’re a little older, they can go a bit longer. Also, if they don’t do it too often, it should be ok too. Tiny babies dehydrate quickly

  • How old is your newborn?? We were told by medical professionals to wake bubs up for the first 2 – 3 weeks because a newborn baby can easily sleep heavily and dehydrate before she/he wakes.

  • Oo I don’t know. I’ve never had to wake my baby during the day. If it’s overnight no, they can go longer then. If it’s a one off maybe see how long they sleep? If they keep sleeping that long All the time check with a midwife. As someone else said if your baby is healthy and putting on weight it’s probably all fine to leave them sleeping.

  • i wouldnt wake him. he’ll wake up when he needs something. spend the extra time to read a book or do something for yourself xx

  • It depends. If he is putting on weight and feeding properly then do not wake him. If he is having trouble keeping weight on and is too sleepy for a proper feed you may need to wake him but I would see a lactation consultant about it first.

  • NEVER WAKE A SLEEPING BABY!!!… If your child is hungry, it will wake and tell you

  • I didn’t wake my newborn if they were still sleeping. They will wake when they are hungry.
