Hello!

My 7 month old has decided to start waking up at about 9.30/10pm every night. She is not unhappy, only when we try to lay her back down. About a month ago she was doing this when her first teeth came in. But there is no sign of teeth and no other symptoms. She has just learnt to crawl in the last week and is pulling herself to stand in the last few days. I don’t know what to do, or whether I should just ride it out?

  • Their little brains are learning so many new things, it must be hard for them to shut off. My daughter (I think) would fight her sleep cos she never wanted to miss out on anything happening haha curious little creatures. Hopefully she’ll grow out of it :)

  • Clever little monkey! its just a phase, just ride it out… what I suggest maybe when this happens interact with her as least as possible. try toys etc in cot for her to entertain herself and maybe a soft light. Only go in there when she is crying and try and re settle her, she will move past this phase. hope it dont last too long.

  • My toddler went through the same phase, if it is nothing medically serious, just ride it out I think.

  • maybe is the new skill learning process that is causing him to have trouble sleeping… it is only temporarily though

  • Just ride it out. When she cries, just pat her and lie her back down straight away. No other stimulation at all so she doesn’t turn it into a game.

  • ride it out and always put her straight back to bed until she learns to sleep through again

  • how is it going now?

  • Just ride it out. She has reached another milestone and this will pass. You could try to wrap her if you want to restrict her movement

  • My 7 month old is currently doing the same thing and it’s so exhausting! Hoping it’s just a faze

  • I’d say its just a phase, this is a really exciting age for bubs, they wake up and want to play!

  • there are some good comments here

  • Great to know it’s not just me! She is still doing it, but will just keep pushing through.

  • have u tried having a toy for her to play with in the cot

  • My baby is almost 9 months and does the same thing. I am trying to put her to sleep a little later and still she has a kind of nap and is very awake after 40 minutes of sleep. Last night I wasn’t able to put her back to bed before midnight. I am getting very tired and have no idea what I should do. Thinking to call Tresillian…

  • yeah just ride it out shes will go back to it
