Hello!

I am looking for any really good slow cooker recipes that feature chicken. We do not eat red meat, and I struggle to find really nice chicken recipes other than curries.

  • You can buy recipe bases from the herbs and spices section at the supermarket. I only use thigh chicken or drumsticks when slow cooking as the chicken breast dries out.

  • put the chicken in the slow cooker, and add a little bit of water, and then add in other ingredients to make a stew or soup. will make the house smell divine.

  • I love to pop chicken in slow cooker with sliced onions and cubed potato. pour in a healthy ‘glug’ of red wine, salt pepper and a little liquid chicken stock
Add some sour cream in at the end if you want .. yum

  • I love mango and thyme. We just throw the chicken in, with some stock, frozen mango, garlic and thyme.

  • I fry off chicken drumsticks with some garlic salt & onions. Put a jar of sauce in slow cooker – any flavour you like, with some veggies of your choice. I use beans, carrots, celery & corn. Put chicken in & pan juices. Cook on high or low.

  • Another that was a hit with my family was chicken teriyaki. Can’t go wrong with sweet and savory chicken with rice. ????

  • This is another favourite – chicken satay. A slight variation on chicken curries. It’s a winner with my daughter and hubby.

  • A nice one, that was a bit easy for us, especially on work days, was this Mexican style chicken recipe.

500g chicken breast or thighs, cut to bite sized pieces
    1 jar of salsa, mild
    1/2 cup water
I can of cannelini beans or kidney beans, drained
    1/2 a diced onion
    1 tsp paprika
    1 tsp ground cumin

Place all ingredients except beans in slow cooker. Add beans about 1-2 hours before serving. Cook all other ingredients together on low for 6-8 hours, until chicken is cooked and tender.

Serve over rice, topped with sour cream or cheese.

Chicken can also be shredded and served in tacos or burritos.

  • These meatballs work really well with chicken and they are SO good! You won’t regret trying them :)

  • Before going vegetarian I used to love using the slow cooker to boil up chicken bones and reduce them to a stock and use as a base for all sorts of soups and broths. (I do think you have to be careful with meat in some slow cookers that it gets hot enough) but otherwise so many yummy recipes with curries and stews top of the list.

  • I came across the best cheap and cheerful slow cooker cookbook in Kmart which cost about $8 to $10 – delicious and tasty recipes without fussy ingredients. Well worth looking into if you like recipe books? Chicken stroganoff and chicken curries are so good in the slow cooker. When I get meat on special I just substitute chicken for red meat – maybe give that a go?

  • Apricot chicken is a yummy chicken dish, there’s lots of chicken stir fries too. Have you checkef Google out?
