Hello!

How do I stop my 11 month old pinching and hitting me while I’m breast feeding her? If I yell or make a loud sound or tap her hand she just laughs. If I remove her hand she will put it back and start again. Help before I just stop feeding her cause it’s really hurting. Do you how to stop a baby pinching whilst breastfeeding?

  • I give my little one a soft toy to hold :)

  • I’ve never heard of this before – if she really won’t stop, you might have no option but to stop breastfeeding. I’m sorry.

  • I bottle fed my son and even then he wouldn’t stop moving his arms and legs as he was really fidgety . The last suggestion was good as taking the breast out of his mouth saying NO at the time when he does his first hit will make him know that you won’t feed him if he continues. After a few times I am sure he will choose being hungry or stop hitting ., Good luck .

  • My little boy would bite when i breastfed him, i read on the ABA website to tell the child ‘no’ and take your nipple out of their mouth. I did this a few times when he did it and he stopped within a day or two. It might work in your situation as well :)

  • Wear a silicone necklace for Bub to play woth

  • I realised my son didn’t do this when I had my Mala Beads on, so now I don’t take them off! Haha, he fiddles with them instead :) good luck, ouch!

  • I just flatten my sons hand and say gentle , gentle

  • can you put something in her hand? distraction

  • I am also interested in these answers, my baby scrapes & makes my boobs bleed

  • That is a good question!!!

  • You could try occupying her hands? but i do think that like biting it is a phase, she will grow out of it!

  • i wish i had the answer to this, my poor boobs look like they have been attacked! i usually hold her hands or give her something to hold, and short nails are essential!

  • Have one of her arms behind your back and hold her other hand … dont yell at her.

  • she thinks it a game. say no when she does it .

  • I like many of these answers. Stop feeding her, put her down on the floor, walk away for 5 minutes.
Say No Pinching or make a disagreeable sound OUCH! Give her a small toy or the necklace idea is a great idea. Make a few different necklaces with something she would like on it like a cat or a flower. How about reading a book to her and have her help holding the book. I gave up when mine bit me on the nipple more than three times. That really hurts.
