I am starting to plan the Christmas menu and was wondering what people’s thoughts were on store bought versus home made plum pudding?

  • store bought is not bad but its not great either. i highly recommend trying to make your own,its really simple and beats store bough hands down.

  • Store bought is very nice which was a surprise,as long as we have a pudding and it tastes good that’s all that matters! So either one is good!

  • So long as it has brandy custard I’m easy with puddings. Did you end up making your own?

  • Homemade all the way, for starters it is cheaper than buying some of the store mass produced puddings, is much tastier and is so much more rewarding making one your self. I normally make 3 at christmas, I soak my fruit for days in alcohol (rum, stones, irish whiskey) – and I boil them a couple of days before christmas day and do one on christmas day. I use a recipe that I found years ago in a womens weekly magazine – now my puddings are expected, graded and shared on facebook every christmas! Try it you wont regret it

  • i think that it is up to you! don’t feel bad if you buy a pudding. why not taste test it now before christmas and decide. Christmas is busy enough so don’t feel bad to take a shortcut! Just enjoy the day, don’t be a slave to the stove lol.

  • Give it a go mom90758 – the results are sensational and it is rewarding.

  • Store bought ones are just fine. There is so much else to do at Christmas.

  • I always make my own pudding. Hands down better than store bought. Every gets to stir the pudding!

  • I’ve never made a Christmas pudding but I’d love to try. I think it would be much more rewarding than buying one.
