Hello!

After 10 months of post pregnancy my tummy looks like extra fat. Please suggest something?

  • Tummy fat after having a baby will all go in good time as long as you exercise and eat healthy

  • Choose a gentle exercise like yoga or Pilates. It takes time to get back into shape.

  • Pilates is great, gentle exercise that specifically works on those areas that need tightening postpartum.

  • Work on your core strength – also check out https://www.instagram.com/aus_fitmum/ – she has a website that has home based exercised that you can do with your little one (using them as a weight) – we all “bounce back” differently – some are lucky to just drop the extra weight and some of us have to work a little harder to do it – just remember some exercise is better than no exercise – start slow, ease into it and before long you will be addicted and feeling better than ever – good luck – we are all on the same journey

  • Try crunches to strengthen the area as well as helping to burn fat. There are some great YouTube videos on how to do them safely and they are a lot easier on the back than trying to do full sit-ups. Also try to go for a walk every day. When I was recovering from surgeries and very limited in what I could physically the doctor told me even just going for a walk around the block is going to help both mentally and physically. It doesn’t have to be a big trek!
Most importantly though be kind to yourself! Your body has been through major changes and we don’t bounce back as quickly as celebrities with personal chefs, personal trainers and nannies ;)

  • I know it sounds like a pain but you could start counting your calories so you know exactly what you are eating. I would also add in my exercise depending on how fit you are now you could start with walking or go running. Weights will also help

  • Yes, I agree with a good exercise class in combination with a good healthy moderate eating pattern. You could get support from a health coach.

  • It’s hard with our muscles being given such a hard time. If you don’t want to lose weight anywhere else you just need to re-strengthen your core. There are some specific exercise classes for mum’s post baby, I’d have a look in your local area. Also Mum specific ones mean everyone knows what it’s like.
