Hello!

I have a 9 month old and I am scared that she will choke. Also I am not sure what is for this age. I have started giving her some banana but not sure what else to try. Any feedback would be great, thanks.

  • There are lots of great books you could borrow from the library with guidelines and recipes ‘ suggestions. Try Annabel Karmal – I think she has a webpage too. She was great at going through age by age what to try.

  • Have you consulted your worries with the childhood nurse at the baby clinic? Mine was a great help and will offer you lots of suggestions. I used to give mine soft foods , nothing hard at all, eg No nuts
Try soft vegies and fruits eg stew apples , rice , soft carrots , bread ( not the crust ) etc…

  • cruskits with vegemite. or toast and vegemite,

  • I got this little net looking thing for my son and you put chopped up fruit in it and they suck out the juices. Messy but he loved it

  • If bub is ready for solids which they usually are by 9mths – has control control, can swallow, head control, can sit up unassisted, interested in food etc then we would lightly steam carrot sticks, broccoli. We gave apple cut into fingers, pear.

  • sit with them why they eat but i would consider finger sandwiches, soft fruits,my friend has been using these crackers for kids they are like miniature rice crackers you can buy them at Woolworth. He is 10 mths old.

  • French Toast, Vegemite and cheese sandwiches, thin sausage, Celery sticks, soften carrot sticks in microwave, sliced apple pieces, strawberries, peeled grapes, made my own wedges. BUT I NEVER LEFT THEM ALONE to eat. I always sat with mine and had my lunch too.
