Hello!

I’m wanting to protect my self and stop becoming pregnant any time soon but I haven’t ever personally used anything other than condoms for contraception. I already have 2 kids and I would like to keep it at 2. What contraceptions would all you ladies suggest trying? What has worked for you?

  • I got a script for an IUD but was a too scared to have it inserted.

This is a family planning website. They list all the options, check out the costs, and tell you the effectiveness and how to use it, what can interrupt it etc.
Have a chat with your GP and ask about the options you like best.

Im currently on the depo injection while waiting for an appt to get an IUD fitted.

  • I had an Iud fitted, slightly uncomfortable to have fitted but no hassles since. Has reduced the length and amount of periods and you don’t have to remember to take a pill or do anything for years!

  • I made both my teenage girls get the Nexplanon! This worked well in stopping any pregnancies from happening but it can cause irregular bleeding. Discuss with your GP or Local health professional is my opinion too.

  • The contraceptive implant is a great option as it takes away the need to remember to take a pill every day.

  • Personally I use the pill. I find it works best for me. We are extra careful and still use condoms. No more babies thanks Haha. The implanon was no problems to have put in and then removed. I didn’t like the way it affected my mood, mental state and uncertain periods. Speak to your GP, have a bit of a google and you’ll find something that works best for you.

  • Different kinds of contraception work for different people. The pill or implanon is probably the easiest but they do have side effects. An IUD is an option but some people don’t like them. If you don’t want any more kids and feel certain you won’t change your mind then a vasectomy for your man is the safest and least invasive way to take care of it permanently.

  • The pill is a good option but won’t protect you from stds still need condoms for that.

  • I used the pill for a long time when I was younger. When I found out I had problems of infertility, I stopped using anything.
I know some women are happy with Nuvaring, a vaginal ring that you insert and keep for 3 weeks. Other women like Implanon that is inserted under your skin and protects you for 3 years I think. Very handy thus.
