  • Never! This is such a bad idea.

  • Never, I don’t believe it is right at all. (In saying that, that is just my personal opinion)

  • I was told 6 months, but personally found controlled drying didn’t work.

  • They say 6 months. I tried but I couldn’t handle that sad cry knowing that she wanted her mummy so she sleeps in our bed now and it works for us. Everyone is happy and well rested :) of course it dosent work for everyone so you need to do what’s right for you. My family care nurse said you can do controlled crying from 6 months and I think that’s what they teach at sleep schools also. I know of mums that have done it from 3 months and it’s worked for them also but most feel they are too young at that age.

  • there are some good comments here

  • How did you go with the control crying?

  • Is be doing some looking into the side effects of control crying first….

  • Whilst I am not keen on this method I think a quick google search will give you lots of information on the technique and appropriate ages to start trying it.

  • Did you start and if so how did it go?

  • how did it end up going?

  • I believe that babies are able to self settle at five months, but every child is different do what feels right to you.

  • What did you end up deciding?

  • Good luck with what you choose

  • Everyone is different.. Personally if I know my child isn’t hungry, has just been changed, and isn’t hurting. Then let them cry. They have to learn to settle themselves

  • Have a look at books like save our sleep, the baby whisperer and the contented baby. Different strokes for different folks.
