My husbands been called to be a witness in a long running dispute that’s been dragged to the courts. It’s affected us both so I really want to go and see the end of it and bring closer to that part of our lives. My question is do I take my 5 year old son who suffers badly from seperation or do I leave him with his nan and grandpa where I know he will be ok and safe just not 100 percent happy? I’m fighting within myself we could be all day waiting for courts or we could be in and out in a couple of hours. We will be gone at least 1 night.

  • Better to leave him with nanna and pop

  • I do not think a court is a great place to take a child. Hard decision for you

  • Is it a possibility to take someone else along with you that you know he wouldn’t mind “hanging out” with while your inside the court room? This way he knows your just a stone throw away and a lil busy while he has fun and he’ll see you soon and you won’t be separated at night. I know many people will say one night won’t hurt, but it may just be a bit traumatic for him, some kids are like that, it won’t damage them, but it will play on their emotion for a while. I have a sensitive 6 year old, she is ok when I had to go and have bub and even the overnight bit only because I had nana fly in from overseas to be with her (huuby wasn’t cutting it). She was overly excited to see nana she forgot I was away. I hope it’s all over soon for you and your family

  • A court room is really no place for a child, I had to go to court once and it was not pretty. There were people with foul language, it is boring and it can drag on for ages.
I think leaving him with Grandparents or someone he knows will be your best option. Let him know that you will be coming back later in the day to pick him up.
Wishing you the best of luck

  • Is it possible to compromise and bring him along with his nan and or grandpa so they can stay behind in the hotel with him, or take him to a park or zoo for the day?

  • I think u should if he has separation problems then i think u should cause it might make him worse and you are only going to worry about him.
