My son is 14.5 months old and only has one tooth which he got two months ago. Should I take him to the dentist or is this normal? Thanks

  • I took all of mine to the dentist around age 1yr old whether they had teeth or not. My youngest was also late with cutting her first teeth and the dentist reassured me that all teeth were present in the jaw.

  • That is slow tooth grow for sure! Mine had a mouthful of teeth at this age, I would suggest a dental check

  • LOL if you have to ask, you must be worried about it, so go to the dentist – it is also a great way for your child to get used to going….

  • I would take him to get checked out

  • I would take him to the dentist around 12 mths anyway to build some familiarity with the process but with the lack of teeth I would definitely be making an appointment even if it is only to allay your concerns.

  • there are some good comments here

  • maybe just wait a little longer and see what happens

  • babies teeth at different rates, our son started teething at 3 months and his twin cousins were much older and only had a couple of teeth at 12 months. Introduce your son to the dentist when you go for a checkup.

  • What did you decide to do?

  • did you end up taking him?

  • they say it is good practice to get baby’s used to going to the dentist but I wouldn’t be worried about the teeth coming through yet

  • Did you end up taking him? Any more teeth?

  • I would wait till he is around two, unless you are worried about something I would wait.

  • Every child is different, just wait a little longer

  • How are you going now? Does he have more teeth?
