Hello!

Hi. I’ve got baby twins who are about to start teething. I know teething starts at all different ages for different bubs and I know there’s a ‘usual’ pattern for which teeth erupt first but again each Bub different – but is it possible for a bubs first tooth to be one of their back ones? (Upper). One of mine has her bottom middle 2 through. The other is still all gummy but I can feel one right up the top towards the back of his mouth. Not molars but definitely towards the back. None of my other kids or friends kids have had a first tooth (or first few) be any of the back ones. Is this usual or can happen?

  • I would say get him checked out at a gp that’s the way I’d go in your situation if your worried about it sorry that’s all ive got

  • You’re right, there is a usual order of teeth to appear. But not all kids stick to the plan. So don’t worry if yours start out of the norm

  • My daughter got her teeth out of order and her teeth are completely fine. Every baby is different :)

  • Teething can happen at different ages and in different order indeed. I’ve always brought my babies along with our dental checks and had them checked by the dentist at young age. Not only do your kids get used to dental check ups at early age this way, you can talk about anything that concerns you and get professional opinion & advice.

  • Thanks so much for the 2 responses. I’ve asked other mums I know and no one has had this with their kids. I’m not overly worried yet – but we’ll see. I guess I’ll be worried if it affects teeth/mouth development. I’ll definitely ask my pead next time we go.

For the mum who’s bubs first teeth were the front ones then others came through randomly – have you had any issues yet or has your GP or dentist said it can cause issues?

  • I’m dealing with this for my second born. Her top and bottom teeth came out in order and at the right time but all her other teeth are appearing randomly and sometimes simultaneously. I’ve been told it happens sometimes. If you’re really worried have a chat to your Dr or book in a check up with your dentist.

  • Sorry, I don’t have answer. My firstborn received her teeth in the “normal” order. If you are concerned, go talk to a pediatrician and/or dentist familiar with baby teeth.
