Hello!

I recently attended a thermomix party my friend was having. It was a great demonstration and the food was quick and easy to prepare, and I have been thinking about it ever since. however it is a huge investment. It costs just over $2,000. Does anyone have one and if so is it so much better than a blender and hand whisk (I know it stirs your food etc too) but would you say it was worth the investment or is it shoved in a corner and used once a year?

  • I wanted one but couldn’t justify the money so I brought a cheaper brand to try it out. I was worried that I might loose interest and it would sit in the cupboard. For me it comes in waves, I’ll use it heaps and for everything then I might take a break but I’ll be back to it soon enough in a big way. You could always do this or look online for a second hand one to try it out

  • I have just bought one, on the interest free so its not a huge chunk of money, have a look at the recipes that are available and how easy they are to do! i made a vege stock paste in 20 minutes and just used all the veges going “limp” in the fridge rather than throwing them out!

  • Following this post as I’m interested too.

  • I have wanted a thermomix for ages but like many I can’t justify the cost, especially as I already have lots of kitchen appliances and gadgets! I have heard good things about the Bellini so might end up getting one of those.

  • I have a friend that has the Thermomix and a friend that has the cheaper alternative- the Bellini. Both use their machines a lot! But to be honest, I see no difference between the two except about $1600. I am contemplating getting a Bellini.

  • I would think twice about the Thermomix after the bad press with the burns victim.

  • Just have to weigh up the pros and cons, budget and amount of use in the kitchen.

  • quite a few people have recommended Bellinis and i have looked them up from Target they are $250 for the old style or $499 for new style. This looks much more affordable than the thermomix $2000. although people I know who have them love them, but it is a huge investment.

  • I don’t have one, but people who do generally seem to love it.

  • Wow! $2000 dollars is expensive and it would need to be used all of the time. A good investment if a person loves using their Thermomix.

  • I dont own one myself but my friend does, and hers lives on her bench and is used all the time, she is always telling me to buy one but i just dont have that kind of money. But from what ive seen her make/do with hers it defiantely isnt a waste of money.

  • I have one and love it! It is so easy and quick to cook. Having one toddler and one newborn the thermomix is a life safer. I use mine all the time.

  • I know a couple of people who bought one. They hardly use it now. I think it was just the initial hype over it and the fact that all their friends were getting them too. I honestly cannot see the point of spending that much money on it! Sooo many better things to spend it on!

  • My cousin has one and swears by it.

    I, however, went and purchased a $49 food processor, a $29 blender from k-mart, and a $49 soup maker from eBay…

    I think it’s personal preference. :)

Obviously, the cheaper products aren’t as powerful, and take longer to make things, but the reality is, if you have $2000, it’s probably not for a single item, unless it’s a car. :P

I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for yourself and your family. :)

    Best of luck.

  • I have thought about getting one, but as I have a number of appliances that work really well and that I don’t want to dispose of, the appliance, although appealing, doesn’t suit me. $2000 is a very big chunk of money.
