I have two daughters 2 yrs & 1yr. I need some tips on good eating habits. Also for both toilet training for the elder one and getting the younger one off breast feeding. Would it be the wrong time to do weaning while teething? And is 1 year a good age for toilet training or is it too early? Nothing is actually working because of small age gap between the two. Please give me some magic tips to make my life easier!

  • Sorry, forgot the good eating habits tips. My toddler is a grazer and I find it hard to get him to eat well. Just recently I have been making him smoothies with bananas, frozen berries, oats, yoghurt and a little honey with milk and he’s loving them. There are lots of great ideas in the “real Recipes” section on here for toddlers (and lots of smoothie recipes too). Some find making food faces and different shaped sandwiches etc help encourage toddler to eat.

  • My first 2 are only 12.5 months apart so I know what you mean about wanting tips to make life easier!

My 2 year 9 month old son has just toilet trained. His older brother was over 3 and his sister was around 2.5. It depends on the child but I honestly think that 1 year old is too early, and would wait until at least 2 when they are more aware of bowel movements and also have the language and understanding to be successful. There are many children who have been trained earlier but generally, 2.5-3 years is the common age. My son just “clicked” a few weeks back and has trained easily with very few accidents, and I think it’s because he was really ready (rather than just me being ready)

Weaning is a very personal thing and totally up to you. You’ve done brilliantly feeding this long, so just do what feels right for you and your child! Good luck!
