  • Breastfeeding is better for many reasons. If a baby is formula fed, they are 50% more likely to die from SIDS. For twins, I suggest a breastfeeding pillow.

  • I would try to breastfeed at the same time and alternate the breast as the one may be better in emptying the breast as the other. Invest in a good chair, stool and breastfeed pillow and seek the advice of a lactation consultant.

  • I didn’t have twins. If I had, I think I would have breast fed one whilst giving tge other a bottle. Then the next feed I would swap it around, so they both get a good go at breast milk. Sometimes my babies had a go at birth breasts in one feed, so I’m guessing feeding both on the breast at the same time might not be enough

  • I’m currently bf my 4 month old twins so it can be done, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
It is hard work in the beginning but worth it. Get your self a nice big feeding pillow and try to master the art of the tandem feed. It really helps if you can feed them both together. Plan to set your self up a little “feeding nest” maybe on the couch or on the floor with lots of cushions with snacks, drinks and entertain within easy reach as you will be spending a lot of time here.
There are also some good support groups on Facebook where other mothers are happy to answer questions, just search “breast feeding twins and more”

  • Definitely I would breast feed twins. Try to get into a routine where you feed them at the same time. you allocate a boob for each. and feed them head to head.

  • You can tandem nurse or feed one after the other. It would probably be a good idea to get I touch with a lactation consultant and they can help you with positioning ect. Good luck!

  • I hope it worked out well for you! Twins would be very busy.

  • I don’t know how you mange – hope you got the help you needed.

  • Talk to the multiple birth association for advice

  • Wow I’ve never thought about that- great question!

  • I think it is great if you can do it, you never know if you don’t try.

  • I breasted my twins for the first 3 months. I also pumped a lot. Mine never took to breast feeding that great because I didn’t have a very good supply. If you do decide to I highly recommend a twin breast feeding pillow

  • I breast fed my twins using a twin feeding pillow. It was great. Later after 9months I did give my twins formula. I didn’t have much milk.

  • As a mom of twins. No I did not. It’s a choice thing. .. I had three under two a shift working hubby and I did not want too.. It was that simple .. Hubby got to feed the twins. I could prop feed so I could still do thinks in that room… I was just to tired I had a c section. And I really did not want too.
