Hello!

Okay so this is a bit embarrassing but I am struggling with a bit of facial hair on my upper lip… I have tried laser hair removal but I think the hairs are just not quite dark enough. I know that doesn’t sound too bad but they are definitely not light! I don’t want to shave & have tried waxing but I think the hairs just snap off/don’t actually pull out. HELP! Any tips on dealing with facial hair would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you have more facial or body hair than you want, there are a number of ways you can remove it.

Weight loss. If you’re overweight and drop pounds, your body may make fewer male hormones.
    Shaving. …
    Tweezing or threading. …
    Waxing. …
    Creams (Depilatory creams). …
    Electrolysis. …
    Laser hair removal. …
    Medication / topical prescriptions.

  • I have noticed a couple of whispered sprouting under my chin :/ Who’s idea was it to give whiskers to women?!?! Fortunately, there’s only 3 so I pluck. I am thinking of trying electrolysis when I get sick of plucking

  • Laser works best if you have dark thick coarse hair. Think about the hair on your head, not on your lip. If you are blond/brunette/red haired then laser is less effective. Other options – bleach, hair removal cream, waxing (go to a salon – doesn’t cost much for a lip wax) or threading. Unless you’re a man (and I’m assuming you aren’t) don’t shave – this could make it worse!

  • I pluck mine out and my lip area is nice and smooth, I certainly keep this up, takes no time at all, doesn’t cost me anything and plucking gets the root so growth is slower.

  • Hopefully if you continue to wax the hair will get thinner. maybe go to someone to get it waxed if you don’t think you are doing it right.

  • I just pluck if they are too obvious but I would go get them waxed at a place that does it

  • Some great suggestions here. I hope you find a method that works well for you

  • If u keep waxing it will minimize the hair growth

  • Your hairdresser can do it for you

  • Keep up with the waxing. I work in beauty and honestly it’s so common for women to have the upper lip waxed!

  • Go to a beautician they will help you

  • I’d think threading or plucking could be the best bet. You’re not alone – ask around beauticians.

  • I need a solution too! I have had horrible hairs under my jaw since pregnancy (and subsequent birth) of my second son!

  • Have you tried threading? It gets really good results on thinner facial hair.

  • Maybe even have a chat to your GP about the issue – Sometimes the contraceptive pill can cause this… See if your GP can recommend some where professional to get laser treatment (despite the hair not being dark it shouldn’t have an impact on the laser being able to kill off the hair follicle. In the meantime do keep in mind that you probably notice this hair far more that anyone else does!
