Hello!

We will be taking our, just turned, 3yo girl to the Ekka Bribane Show. She is very social, always going up to kids/adults to say HI, even giving out hugs. At the shops I can always keep her close to me, but I am SUPER worried about taking her this year to Ekka. Last year she was happy to stay in the stoller, but ATM she isn’t too keen on being in it. I have one of those teddy back packs with a lead, I’ve never used it though. Does anyone have any thoughts on the lead or other ways to help keep her safe? Thanks

  • I’ve the same feelings with my 9yr old who has Down syndrome and is very inquisitive and a runner. It’s either giving a hand or in the stroller

  • I would use the lead for this occasion.

  • MY youngest brother was so fast and active around 3 that my mother had no choice but to buy one of those leads that look like you would you for a per dog . It was the best thing because even then he was running around but at least this time we know he wont get lost. Don’t take your chances and worry , use it .

  • The lead was my first thought on keeping her safe. I used to write my phone number on their arm with permanent marker, in case they got lost. And I tried to teach them to recite their name, mum and dads name and where they lived. Phone number was usually enough for me tho

  • im not a fan of the back pack. bright coloured clothing, take someone else to help you

  • A bracelet and name tag with your name and contact details on her, a backpack with a strap? There are many ideas. Maybe a whistle so if she can’t find you get her to blow it or if she is in trouble to blow it?

  • Some people rage against using the lead, however I’ve been to the Ekka many times and if I was concerned about my child getting lost in those crowds I’d use the lead and wouldn’t think twice about it.

  • We took our girl to the show when she was 2, we kept our eyes on her all day. The police walk the show all day & gave out wrist bands with her name & our phone number on it. Take a pic of her before you go & remember what she is wearing on the day. You won’t lose her

  • Always use a lead i say!!

  • there are some good comments here

  • Hope it all went well at the show

  • I’d use the back pack, better to be safe than sorry!

  • How did it all go?

  • I would use the teddy back pack

  • what did you end up doing?
