Hello!

When did you buy your toddler a stool and what did he/ she use it for?

  • We’ve had one since our first could walk so that she could practice going up and down the step.
Now that we have number two we got an ikea one with two steps so both can reach.

  • We’ve always had one so they can reach the sink to wash their hands and clean their teeth.

  • I had one since my youngest could walk. It’s great for everything, from sitting on the toilet to reaching the basin to wash hands. Even just sitting on the floor on it!

  • We have a single step in the bathroom for my toddler to wash her hands

  • We also have a single step that gets used all over the house. We started using it at around 18 months and now at 22 months it gets lots of use as toddler has started toilet training.

  • We got a single step toddler stool from around 1 year (it depends a lot on the age yours learns to walk and how steady they are on their feet as they step up and down from the stool).

We used the the step in the kitchen and at the basin. Later on it got used in the garden to help climb into a tree, and to help the child with washing the car.

For the first few moths be careful as the child doesn’t comprehend that if they stand towards the edge, the whole thing will fall over and/or they will fall off. You need to take the help them learn how to use the stool safely – don’t let them take it to other places (i.e.: set guidelines for use early on).
