Hello!

I have a 2.5yo daughter who has been toilet trained for wee’s since she was a 2yo and in the last month or so trained with poo’s. However, I still can’t get her to be dry for her day sleep (we won’t try night training for a bit longer yet)! She sleeps for approx an hour during the day, sometimes she’ll wake up dry and other days wet. We do not restrict her fluid intake and we toilet her regularly throughout the morning and right before bed. She wears her underpants to bed and we remind her to try and hang on to her wee’s until she wakes up. She also goes to daycare for 2 days a week and they have just started putting a nappy on her for the day sleep despite us saying no to a nappy. I feel as if putting her in a nappy for days sleeps is taking a step backwards, what do other parents do?? Thanks in advance for your advice.

  • I understand why they would do this at daycare, they use their sleeping items for other children, so they need to avoid unecessary messes. I would say she’s still learning. She’ll get there, patience and time is needed

  • Developmentally she might not be ready. She’s only two and a half. Takes time. A toilet time before day nap is encouraged.

  • there are some good comments here

  • How are you going with the training?

  • It will come with time :)

  • I think have a talk to the daycare staff about not putting the nappy on

  • Good advice below. How is she going now?

  • i hope it worked out

  • Daycare needs to listen to you about the no nappies for starters. Hope you are getting it sorted out :)

  • I hope that it pans out for you

  • Say to the day care no more nappies please

  • It takes time, she will get there eventually, you are doing all the right things. Tell day care no more nappies.

  • I am getting to that stage too… anxious!

  • My daughter is at the same stage and I have been trying not to worry about it too much. These answers are very reassuring that she just needs more time. In regards to child care, my daughter seems to get quite upset by her accidents as she gets older, therefore i let the childcare to use sleep nappies so she doesnt get disheartened.

  • Lordy, all this fuss about toilet training when it’s a known fact that many children’s systems don’t mature until well past three. It was a competition when I had my babies as to whose babe was toilet trained first, seems nothing changes. If rushed into being trained there could be all sorts of consequences when a child gets older….let nature take its course and use nappies.
