  • Lanolin balm worked great for me! A midwife suggested it at the hospital

  • Lanosil is brilliant and so is paw paw

  • i beared it and it got better. bub hated the nipple sheild. you can buy cream

  • My hospital recommended lanisol after each feed, it’s safe if baby gets some in their mouth. Also squeeze out some milk and rub that on your nipple. Breastmilk has an lot of healing/antibacterial properties. My baby had a gunky eye and i was recommended to put breastmilk in it (squeeze onto a cotton ball and apply that way)

  • I put bepanthen on my nipples (wash off before the next feed) and also the hydrogel Breast discs worked wonders.

  • Pawpaw ointment is my answer for everything but it really does work.

  • GEL BREASTPADS!!!!!!!
I can\’t stress enough how amazing they are! My first daughter I had skin missing off my nipples left right and centre. With my second I was in that much pain I almost quit until I was told about gel breast pads and no joke within 24 hrs it was alot better and a lot less painful. And no more cracked nipples. You can get them from Coles woolies and most chemists.

  • many years ago there were no such thing as salves specificliy for this purpose and I remember my mum using codliver oil on her nipples when they cracked, she always had a soft handkerchief in her bra with it on under the nipple shield, I assume it worked but unfortunately I can’t speak for myself as I was unable to breast feed.

  • I liked the lansinoh cream, wasn’t a fan of the wool fat stuff my mum used with us & recommended to me.

  • Get some of these today! They saved me. They are around $8 and you can wear them for 24hours. They are like a wound dressing and are super soothing (you can cool them in the fridge for extra soothing)

  • lasinol cream, also try seeing a physio for laser

  • I used pure lanolin. Its the only thing that would reduce the pain

  • rub breast milk on them after each feed.

  • Paw paw ointment is fantastic as well as lamisoh cream.

  • I had an awful start to breastfeeding and would cry every time I had to feed, so I feel your pain! I ended up using nipple shields and these were a life saver! It protects your nipples and gives them a chance to heal but you can still feed your bub. Just be sure to put them on properly so as not to cause more friction and pain. I fed my first until around 3 months using the shields and went on to feed until 16 months. It’s a tricky time but hang in there. The breastfeeding association hotline was helpful too. Good luck!
