Hello!

I am wondering if mums could share their experiences – at what age did you let your baby sleep during the night with a comforter i.e teddy bear or blankie.

  • Not until they were 1yr old or so. Only my eldest was really attached to her blankie, the other ones weren’t at all. My 7yr old only started to attach to a soft toy in the last year.

  • As long as they’re old enough to lift themselves up to get themselves out of trouble its fine.

  • my son is 24 – he had so many toys in his cot, padded buffers, slept on his tummy from birth – and guess what… he lived LOL.. I know you guys are all super careful now and I respect that, but you are the Mum and know your bubba. You can make this decision and it will be the right one x

  • I did from around 6 months with mine.

  • I was wondering this same question! Thanks for asking it, I’m following the responses

  • meant two months lol.

  • our son fell in love with a cuddly dog at around 2 weeks and still wont sleep without it. reckon he wouldn’t sleep if he lost it.

  • 12 months

  • its was 12 months for me

  • About 12 months I think for my kids. It was only a teddy for one of them and the other loved the little wraps that I used to wrap him up in to sleep when he was younger.

  • Pretty much from 2mths…once they showed and attachment to something.

  • Mine day 1 my 1st had a woollen cot blanket & he loved anything wool, 2nd had a teddy bear it’s fur on top would tickle her face so she would suck on its foot, my 3rd has his cot blanket & sucks on the corner they all ended using them only when they sleep & they stop using it just after they started school. I never thought about suffocation as it was there bedding they was using

  • Hi there,

we let our son sleep with a comforter from three months – initially it was a t-shirt of either mine or my partner’s so he would think we were still with him… It wasn’t until he was a bit older that he got anything soft like a toy to sleep with he is almost three now and he has attached himself to an old teddy bear we found at an auction house – I washed Ted and it was love at first sight he takes Ted with him shopping (sometimes) and sleeps with him every night.

  • we never had to use one but I’m going to hedge a guess at when they can sit up unassisted.

  • Mine never needed to use one.
