Hello!

I had an argument with my sister who wants to let her 8yo because she’s told her a couple of girls at school have mentioned her hairy legs so she won’t wear a dress without leggings at school!

I say no way, not till high school! My 25yo says I traumatised her making her wait that long, but agrees 8 is way too young

  • I think 7 is to young for it.

  • Yes eight is too young and tell her she needs to be a bit older to shave.

  • As someone else said – rather than shaving what about a hair remover cream. it might be gentler.

  • I always thought I wouldn’t let me daughter shave until 12, but she has such dark thick hair I am going to let her when she turns 10 in a couple months. We have discussed it many times and I am comfortable with my decision.

  • Yes that’s just absolutely WAY TO YOUNG, I think around 12-13yrs old.
My daughter not long started to shave and she’ll be 13 in October and I still didn’t want her to…. They grow up to fast as it is these days, they need to enjoy there childhood as long as they can that’s my advice.
But at the end of the day it’s your choice, good luck ????

  • I think she is too young.

  • That’s way too early to start shaving her legs. If it’s really upsetting her how about using gel such as Nad’s. You need to think about her emotional stress that she is going through. I’d rather get my legs shaved or waxed than get bullied and start to contemplate suicide or depression. Hope you can get some help for her.

  • I would hold off as long as possible, but if she is particularly hairy it could be awful for her to be bullied for it.

  • Young girls should be warned that the earlier they shaved their legs, the hair comes back darker & coarser. Our girls didn’t shave until finished high school.

  • It is too young but it depends on the colour if the hair,as black is definitely more defined and of course the social aspect of the other girls. If it is making her life a misery l would let her!

  • I would try to hold off as long as possible too. I think that girls like that tease people to make themselves feel better. Pointing out that this was the only thing they could find was a great idea, letting her understand that this is the other girls issue and not a problem with her.

  • Way too young. Let her be a kid…..there is many years of shaving ahead.

  • For our younger girls they shouldn’t shave at a very young age there are other options creams or the handheld device emjoys that pluck the hairs or the hand held sand paper very fine you can get from bigw or priceline

  • Far too young to shave her legs. She will end up with darker hair growing back and she would hate that more.

  • Too young! I come from an ethnic family and my mum was actually really body positive. She didn’t encourage us to shave our dark leg hair until around 12.
