Hello!

What are some good gift ideas for end of year teacher presents? My daughter is in year 1 and at the end of the year people give presents to say thank you for teaching their child. Just wondering what other mums gave to their child’s teacher?

  • Chocolates or flowers are always good.

  • Most if not all schools will have a gift policy, where the teacher is only allowed to accept a gift up to a certain value. In my workplace, the value is set at $50, but I have heard of places where it is much lower. So really a token gift of low value is all that should be given.

  • Some of the presents we have given teachers have been chocolates, candles, christmas ornaments, photo frames.

  • a teachers mug with treats, a card and flowers, a nice little keepsake, gift stationery etc all can be good ideas

  • A big bunch of flowers chosen by your child is always a special gift.

  • Cookies with a note (“thanks for making me a smart cookie”), DIY Xmas ornament, special stickers or stamps for them to give out the following year, mini pamper kits or mini stationary kits.

  • This will definitely be a good one to follow =)

I did just see a thing on a different site as well, decorating a mason jar and putting stuff in it, like licorice, or ready to bake cookies, ‘survival’ gimmick kits, candles ect… I thought they looked pretty cool =)

  • Practical little items like stickers, pens, pencils and other supplies that they use during the year. Teachers do like to get these items too! The kids love to see their stickers being given out too.

  • I would probably help the child make something for the teacher – you can buy plain calico page and fabric pens easily from places like spotlight etc. Teachers get so many chocolates that I would definitely avoid them.

My daughter made up a small book for the teacher when she was that age with a series of pictures and comments about what she liked about that teacher. Not the most practical present, but the teacher sat and read it with my child and made her feel extremely special.

We have also given small gift vouchers to teachers for Dymocks and sports stores (for PE teachers) – they LOVE vouchers.

  • I generally gave chocolates. Occasionally with the all class we gave some vouchers.
