My kids watch a bit of each. You’ll be surprised at what they learn from shows you deem uneducational. A child learnt the Heimlich from SpongeBobSquarePants and saved someone’s life
for babies and small children, there is the show LITTLE EINSTEINS which is pretty good and teaches them using classical music for some things. it is a cartoon and kids love it
All of our kids (except our 7 month old!) love watching Operation Ouch. Their ages are 4, 6, 14. They also learn from Mythbusters – physics and chemistry without realising it!
I don’t really believe in “educational” TV shows, because I perceive the education that one receives from the TV to be dubious at best, but here are some shows that my kids watch that seem to get the ol’ noggin fired up. Operation Ouch (a fun, entertaining look at dismemberment and other medical maladies), Horrible Histories (history, presented from a leftist slant, but nevertheless, fun for all), QI (my husband and I watch it, and our three kids watch it with us. They understand about 10% of it, but I suspect it is sinking into their brains anyway), and Outnumbered ( a fun look at dysfunctional family life that makes our kids realise that they are not the only ones with nut balls for parents.) If your kids are really young, Peppa Pig is lovely and non-offensive, and Max and Ruby (a Canadian cartoon that you can order on line–is also very sweet and innocent.)
