Hello!

As a mum of three, who is contemplating having a 4th, I’d like to know from other mums if they suffered any serious physical problems after going through the fourth labour.
I’m mostly concerned about weakening of muscles, prolapses and the like. TIA

  • My mother had 3 kids one year apart ( I am the oldest ) and my youngest brother 8 years later as he was an accident . One thing I remembered saying she wished it wasn’t so close with the first three as she suffered more from extended bleeding and as the dressed endriometris and eventually had to have an hysterectomy which she never regretted . As for labour to answer your question she beared very well and she did mention she had a weaker bladder after she had all the children and got worse as she aged . I think that is one thing we may expect as I only had 2 and some muscles are “weaker ” especially when you laugh or cough …

  • yes try to keep up your overall fitness and kegels. I think that you will be fine. Plenty of people have more than four kids and if it was “bad” physically, no-one would do it.

  • That is probably a really good question for your Gp.

  • i think that things change after having one so work out and take care of yourself and don’t stress! the only thing that i experienced was bad after birth pains and the midwife said they get worse after every baby.

  • i have 5 kids. eldest is 15, youngest is 2

the most important thing is pelvic floor exercises. i did them every time i thought of it and i made sure i had reminders around. i dont have any bladder problems even after 5 pregnancies

i also made sure i got plenty of exercise and ate well

  • I agree I think if you work on stomach and pelvic exercises it helps with keeping your body in shape for a 4th pregnancy

  • I have had 4 pregnacies, but my first ended at 24 weeks . I now have threebeautiful kids and my I have no health issues in regards to what pregnacy can do to you body other than a occasional slight leakage. Nothing to worry about though as it only really happens when i am run down. All my pregnancies were vaginal births. Just do the exersizes squeeze and hold like the doctors tell you to in the lead up and after the births. The only other problem i do have is my belly is now a bit suggy but with no stretch marks. I just wish i id a little more work on it to firm it up earlier. Goodluck with what you decide to do.
