  • I’ve had this argument with my great niece……twice now she’s had 2 babies. There’s the increased risk of premature labour, low birth weight, miscarriage. And that’s all before they’re born. As they grow, there’s an increased risk of cot death and all sorts of lung conditions. Even if it’s just an increased risk, do you really want to take that risk with your baby’s life? I wouldn’t, but too many do

  • Being an severe asthmatic I researched a lot during my pregnancies and whilst I did it always had a lot of information about the dangers of smoking, being the reduce amount of oxygen going through to baby via the placenta.

  • I remember watching a tv show from the UK following pregnant mothers who smoked heavily and the main thing they showed them was the reduced oxygen supplied to the bub.

  • The effects of smoking are well documented and there have been many anti smoking campaigns. Your health professional should give you educational material on health matters during pregnancy.
