Hello!

We are going to the cinemas. It is cold so I am not sure what other little things to do, any suggestions?

  • When my eldest 2 were younger our holidays were always filled with playdates and sleepovers. Nowadays it’s more like going to the cinema, ten pin bowling, bounce, parks for the younger kids, swimming, a special art/craft project, building obstacle course in/outside, zoo, bush walk
When we have the money we may go out for a family holiday

  • Local councils and libraries often run school holiday workshops.

  • We’ve organised some playdates. We’ll also be doing some cooking, renting some movies, doing craft and generally just having a relaxing easy holiday. I think we might have a pyjama day one day just to be silly – my kids love that stuff. All simple and inexpensive.

  • Scienceworks, melb aquarium, indoor play centre, ten pin bowling :)

  • Yes I agree with taking them to the library, museums, some movies at home for sure!

  • 10 pin bowling, mini golf inside.

  • Some local libraries have special programs during school holidays. Some have a toy library that you can borrow toys. You may also be able to borrow DVDs, games etc.
Some schools have school holiday activities but they could be expensive. Some shopping centres have free activities too. Sometimes there are actvities listed in it, check catalogues you get – some stores run free activities. Check the community service/advertising boards in shopping centres.

  • My kids love cooking so we went to the shops and bought heaps of different ingredients then stayed home and spent an afternoon baking, they loved it and it wasn’t an expensive option either!

  • There is quite a lot to do in Adelaide. Even though we are on a strict budget I’ve managed to find “entertainment” for my daughter. We have planned to go to the Central Market (they have a Food Trail for Kids $7), 10 pin bowling (school holiday/early morning specials), seeing the Minions movie (thanks RAA members night $10 per ticket incl candy bar voucher & goody bag). Check out the discounts you can get with your State’s car rescue service (RAA etc), websites like Scoopon, Cudo, Groupon etc have great deals, museum/art gallery have school holiday program’s (check their websites). We are also having a baking day to stock the freezer with goodies when school goes back. Hope this helps & remember holidays are only for 2 weeks stay sane & keep smiling.

  • Library and indoor aquatic centre are on our list! We rug up most mornings and go for a walk, fed the ducks, break the ice off the pond :)

  • I always print activity sheets for my kids to do.
either just colouring in pages, or schtool work activites,
also playdoh is a big hit when everyone is at the table
    watching movies
    craft
    cooking
    dressups
going to an indoor play centre or game place
    visits friends or family

    good luck

  • Pack a nice picnic lunch and go to the park, or find a walking trail. In Queensland it’s strawberry season, so I’m taking the kids strawberry picking next weekend :) Also a lot of shopping centres have free holiday activities for kids.

  • Picnics are always fun if the weather is nice.

  • from 2-7. i have 3 kids

  • What age group are you wanting suggestions for?
