Hello!

Really want to utilise a new rice/slow cooker. Preferably something you can just throw in and leave.

  • Most meat and veg casseroles turn out well in a slow cooker.

  • Beef casserole is my favourite slow cooked recipe especially when I’m using cheaper cuts of meat. Just dust cubes of meat in seasoned flour and sear them in a hot pan, then place in the slow cooker with diced vegetables and about half a cup of stock and allow to cook till tender.

  • Chicken noodle soup. Bones from the roast chicken, lots of veggies, herbs and let it go. Sit in fridge overnight. Strain, brown some fresh veggies, add stock and bring to boil. Stir in noodle soup pack. Doge. Yum!

  • Absolutely some amazing recipes here. Thanks everyone.

  • apricot chicken or sweet and sour chicken is always a winner and easy with fairly minimal amount of ingredients.

  • I have recently tried a beef pot roast in the slow cooker and it was amazing. So easy and tasty! We also often cook pulled pork in the slow cooker,

  • Corned beef is amazing in the slow cooker. Throw it all in and let it go. I’ve found a new one that cooks it in Coke, I’m yet to try it but have heard all good reports on the end product

  • I love the throw in and leave method ???? I bake a lot in my slow cooker; cakes, slices etc. But our go to slow cooked meal is a silverside. Cover with water and add half a cup of vinegar. 3 1/2hours. X

  • We love a good rich pasta sauce which can be used for bolognaise, lasagne or even as a nacho type sauce. We also love apricot chicken with the meat falling straight off the bone!

  • Hubby does most of our cooking and uses the slow cooker a lot more during winter when hearty meals go down well. My favourites are split pea or lentil soup; beef and vegetables casserole; lamb, barley and vegetable soup (or casserole); and roast chicken. Just about any sort of meat and vegetables, grains, etc can be tossed in and let to slowly cook for a delicious meal.

  • I love my slow cooker. You can throw anything in it, turn it on and go about your day. I usually buy a slow cooker recipe base from coles like the farmhouse chicken casserole one gather the ingredients which are usually chicken pieces and potatoes. I add other cut up veggies, put everything together turn it on for 4hrs and stir it every now and then and presto it’s done. Quick, simple and easy.

  • You could try a beef stroganoff recipe, I find it always works well and you just stir in some sour cream at the end.

  • You can make just about any variety of soup or stew using plenty of vegetables and your choice of meat if you wish to. I know a lady who used to cook a huge amount of vegetables with some chopped chicken breasts or thighs. Some vegetables take longer to cook than others. If adding mushrooms they only take a couple of minutes so add them last. A slow cooker is ideal in a caravan. If you don’t have enough bench space it may be safe for you to use on your table.

  • a pork roast, pour over 2 jars of salsa and set it going for a delicious pulled pork. great served with rice, in a roll or with some veg.

  • Silverside and vegies.
I chuck in the silverside with a bottle of ginger ale, cut up carrots, onion and potato quite chunky and cook all together….goes down a treat in our house.
