Hello!

I’ve heard both good and bad things about using crib bumpers, what are your thoughts and experiences?

  • They are very dangerous and SIDS and Kids recommends you don’t use them because of the risk of your baby dying.

  • We had very thin ones to stop him getting legs stuck between the wood. There is increased sids risk though.

  • I didn’t use them as they are not recommended due to SIDS risks.

  • Personally wouldn’t use a padded bumper, not only is there a suffocation risk but when they are older they can use them to climb out. I used airwraps (which come in two different thicknesses) and think they are fantastic. They cushion the sides of the cot a little without suffocation risk.

  • good until a certain age when they can climb them or undo them

  • We use airwraps but with my first daughter we got a more traditional bumper with a bit of padding after she was about a year old because she moved around a lot in her sleep and bumped her head against the cot sides a few times. Never had any problems but we only got the traditional one to prevent her hurting herself, otherwise I totally recommend airwraps, they’re fantastic.

  • We used airwraps as well, they’re just as good at making sure arms and legs don’t get stuck in the bars and I’d highly recommend them.

  • I didn’t use them because of the reccommendations from SIDS. We used air wraps also

  • I feel airwraps are the best and would deffinately recommend. :)

  • I have no problem with them, used them on all 6 children and no problems. Make sure the bumper has no plastic in it and will not stop the breathing if hard pressed up against it. i preferred using a cot bumper to my children getting their arms or legs caught in the cot bars. Mt grand daughter does not have them in her cot and apart getting her arm caught in the cot bars she seems alright.

  • I didn’t end up using them as the more I read about it it seemed that is was not recommended due to SIDS.
