The gruffalo, anything by Mem Fox, Julia Donaldson, Aaron Blabey. Anything that can be read with a rhythm and rhymes. Your childrens’ favourite books will be the ones you enjoy reading to them.
My toddler grandkids love any of the Peppa Pig books. Lift the flap books are still favourites, such as Spot lift the flap, and aslo Hairy Maclary books. Classic fairy tales like Goldilocks and the three bears and The Gingerbread Man are popular as well.
My kids favourite book at the moment is ‘The Wonky Donky’. Its a silly book which my kids love to read. Well actually they read to me. There is also a youtube video which my kids find hilarious and always ask to watch.
My son is currently reading the Tom Gates books (author Liz Pichon). We did see the Captain Underpants movie during the school holidays and have got a few from the library to try.
My daughter is 15 now. When she was young we used to love reading Dr Seuss’ books together, Richard Scarry’s, Amelia Bedelia’s books… http://www.ameliabedeliabooks.com/
