Something to make her feel special might be nice. Think about things that your friend usually likes and see if you can work with that. Some people really like material gifts, others don’t. Some like pampering, some don’t.
I might be inclined to give mum a bit of pampering. Maybe a voucher for a dsy spa. Or a voucher to buy some new clothes. Baby is easy to buy for, I doubt you need many suggestions for baby
Basic essentials are always good, like wipes nappies etc. Do up a nice hamper with this things in plus something’s for mum like maternity pads, magazines etc
I’m with the frozen home cooked meals, it’s something often overlooked and is amazing to receive. Helping out around the house or even holding bub while mum takes a nice shower can all be great gifts
Make a couple of weeks worth of meals to freeze once she has Bub she heat up when she needs to. A massage nearer to the due date I can remember that was all I wanted cause I was so sore. Help around the house like washing & stuff I found it hard in the last few weeks. Or even a date night voucher before bubs born. Maybe ask her what she wants
