I’d go cream or off white to add brightness and still go well with the brown.

I moved into a house like that, and I had to repaint. It was just too depressing. If you can’t do that, red would look good.

Teal or orange go well with browns or maybe a mix of both even possibly red

I would add brighter warm colours like reds, yellows, orange. Might look very 1970’s though.

I love adding red, mahogany goes great with other brown furniture.. You could also try a feature wall to brighten things up :).
