Hello!

We will be in the market for a new dishwasher over the next month or so, but having only had experience with a no-name relatively inexpensive machine (which came with the house we are currently renting) I am not really sure what features to look out for or what brands to avoid/seek out. I am happy to spend a bit extra if it means I am getting better quality and a machine that will stand up to heavy and regular use, and will last the distance (I don’t want something that will pack it in after a couple of years). So… I would love to hear from the Mums and Dads out there: what are features to look out for or that you can’t live without? What do you have at home and are you happy? What is your dream machine? Thank you for any and all feedback and advice! :)

  • Make sure the plates can be well seperated, I find that ours come out a little dirty, also look at the quality of the cutlery basket and how It can be replaced our’s has disintergrated

  • Had a dishlex but bought a bosch a couple of years ago and it seriously is worth paying the extra. It dries a lot better than Dishlex.

  • Choice magazine did a review on dishwashers you can pay for the report if you are not a subscriber. Our dishwasher is stainless steel, fingerprint resistant and the highest energy/water rating we could afford. I worked in an office with the F&P dish drawer and they were fantastic as you can have one on the go and one running (washing) but couldn’t afford one for the home

  • A friend of mine lives in a retirement village and has a Fisher & Paykel one. As it was already installed when she moved in I have no idea what the cost was. The one she has is obviously more expensive than some are as it also dries the dishes. They use it every day and has had no problems with it at all. It gets plenty of use as they constantly have visitors.

  • I’ve had a Bosch for 5 years now….perfect!

  • I have a Dishlex and has never given me a day where I have had to re-wash my dishes and utensils. I bought mine after looking at many and when you go looking they look all the same inside. The salesman told me they all come from the same factory in China with different badges. To save money I bought a machine that the box was broken but the unit was perfect and has full warranty from a seconds world store.

  • I have and LG true steam and can’t recommend enough! We had a terrible dishewasher prior where I has to rewash everything as it did not clean properly so I did my research thoroughly on a replacement. The reviews were excellent and I have to say I am very impresses. No more rewashing for me
