Our then 3 month old baby, was only doing dirty nappies maybe once a week, and was quite uncomfortable and clearly in pain because of this. So we tried her on a different formula and she is now doing a dirty nappy atleast once every day or second day. However with this new formula she is vomiting after each bottle. do I leave her on the formula where she’s no longer constipated and just put up with the vomiting? What would you do? Will she just grow out of it?

  • I know when I was breastfeeding my bub would do it a little though burping would have usually helped he used to have reflux when hanging nappy also but I was told he would grow out of it …. If this doesn’t help in any way maybe ask you go or maternal health nurse for some tips

  • Make sure baby brings up wind, dont move baby for half hour very much, no car rides or walks etc. try not to let baby cry. Have baby slightly elevated whilst feeding and for the half hour after

  • Maybe your baby ls lactose intolerant. A friend of mine had those problems until she changed her baby to lactose free formula, I’m not sure if Goat’s formula is the only option or not. A pharmacist may be able to give you suggestions if you live in an area that doesn’t have paediatricians etc nearby. A pharmacist does some medical training. I am sure that there could be formulas that are not sourced by animals at all. i think cow’s milk could be the only one that contains lactose.

  • I would ask your health nurse or GP for their opinion. My 2 girls suffered from reflux and colic so so bad and once I got that medicated they were both different babies. I hope you get answers for you and your bub xx

  • I would get bub checked over by a dr as it could be reflux or another health issue. I have a reflux baby and I use Aptamil feed thickener rather than reflux formula because you can control the thickness with the feed thickener. I would also stop a couple of times during each feed and burp your baby well.

  • I would get your baby checked out as they may have a medical problem. My third child did this with his first two feeds of the day but I was BF him, it turned out to be asthma. My DIL had this problem with my grand daughter, it took a few different formulas for her to find one that she could be tolerated and kept down. Could be something simple as not being able to have diary, seeing someone about is best for you and your daughter,

  • I would really suggest that you visit the Dr or Pediatrician. It is best to be safe than sorry. Best of luck.

  • My sister’s baby did the same thing. She found out that a part of her stomach that also links to reflux hadn’t formed properly. It took almost a yr for her to stop throwing up. She was on reflux formula and a thickner liquid for her bottles

  • Does your baby vomit if you give a bit less? Or regardless of how much you give? And how much vomit are you talking… I wonder if there’s something else going on (like an Intolerance?) and a midwife or gp would help.

  • I will contact “baby nurse ” and check with her or your gp. If a baby is no gaining weight or loosing it and is unhappy or unsettle – that can be a problem, but if its happy and gaining weight maybe your baby is just eating to much ?( and there is no enough room in stomach to keep it in)
