Hello!

My 8 month old was getting up at 7am 2 months ago and then switched to waking up at 6am. Over the last week she is now waking up at 5am. This is way too early for me (7am was good but 6am I could handle). Has anyone got any tips to try get her to sleep in longer? Changing bedtime doesn’t work..she just gets overtired at night and still gets up early. I have tried being boring and giving her toys to play with in her cot but she just wants to get up and explore .. What do you do if your baby wakes up too early? Got any advice?

  • You could try black out curtains? or maybe try putting her in bed with you to go back to sleep but unfortunately it may just be a stage she’s going through and you might just have to get through it.

  • Establish a bedtime routine. …
Teach your baby to self-soothe, which means trying your best to soothe them less. …
Start weaning the night feedings. …
    Follow a schedule. …
    Keep a calming ambiance. …
Stick to an appropriate bedtime. …
    Be patient. …
Look at cutting down day time naps. …

  • i would tucker them out through the day and get them to bed a little bit later

  • Try a later bedtime but do it gradually. Say 5 minutes later each night, working up to the bedtime test works for you. As you’ve already found though, babies asleep times continuously change. So no doubt the 5am wake up won’t last

  • I would pop them into bed with me a couple of times a week to get a few sleep ins. Not recommended all the time

  • I don’t think 6am is too bad that’s wake up time in our house. I consider 4am wake ups bad

  • Have you tried changing the temperature of her room, maybe as the weather gets warmer she is waking from the heat

  • How long did you try the later bedtime? It takes a little while for the body clock to re set. And that was the only suggestion I have :( 5am is a little too early :/

  • Going through this now! I talk to my toddler via the monitor and say its still dark, its still sleep time, then I hope for the best. Sometimes I get 20mins extra sometimes an hour.

  • Put him to bed earlier!

  • Go with the flow….one thing I have learned is you have to trust they are getting enough sleep. And when they sleep, try and rest or have a nap.

  • You could perhaps try putting her to sleep later, but kids do change their routines as they grow!

  • Baby’s change so quickly. One day my bub wakes at 6, the next day at ten. Yes it happens they don’t know time , we do

  • every baby plays games when it comes 2 sleeping

  • Sound like you have just about everything. Babies go though some funny stages and then eventually pass into a mother faze. Just when you think you have them figured they change the game again. It will pass
