I usually share stuff with neighbours, friends and family if my veggies have done well. Depending on what you’re growing you may be able to freeze it to use later.
Some restaurants advertise on Facebook for home produce particularly citrus fruit. A restaurant in my local area is offering 10% of meals if you bring in a bag of citrus, and a local pub offering a free pint in exchange for a bag of lemons or limes.
There is always someone in need of home produce – if you can’t use it and or freeze it all for your own future use, share it with neighbours, friends, workmates. We have a system at work where we take in our over supplies and swap for other fruit or veggies – win/win situation for everyone!
If you can’t eat it or freeze it or give it to friends or workmates there are often places that feed the homeless that would love it or put it out on the footpath with a sign “free to take” or pay for depending on your council or leave it just inside your yard with the sign. Ask around.
I pick any extras and freeze fresh to use another time or i have a lot I make a big pot of veg soup and again freeze in family serve sizes for those nights I can’t be bothered or to pull out when the winter ills occur.
I freeze a lot. I make jam, chutney, sauce, relish. I dry some. I give a lot away to neighbours. At the moment, I have too many tomatoes, but not enough to make a chutney or anything, think I’ll semi dry them and store in olive oil
You can always dry some produce .. have tried figs and apricots. I want to try making sun dried tomatoes where the oil can preserve the dried tomatoe even longer. Blend and puree and freeze seems to work well – depending what you have!
I agree with previous answers and yes, pickle and fermenting is what my grandma used to do.
Also you could sell some by setting a wee stall up in your front yard.
I have chickens and sell over produce to a friend. I used to have a neighbor I gave them to and he gave me free raw honey back.
