I like to try to sell mine on Facebook market place and Facebook groups. If I can’t sell I’ll donate to charity, but I usually can get something for them and then I put that towards the cost of buying more clothes.
I am hoarding most of them for my next baby, but afterwards, I will donate them to my local church group or charity. There are a few specific items I am keeping though, because I intend on making a quilt with them.
I have 4 children;
3 girls, last boy.
Once my eldest is outgrown her size I wash them all ready for the next child to grow into, that repeats until the youngest has outgrown, i then go through what has gone through them all, memorable, knitted, and brand new & put all them away until my friends/family have children to fit! Others I will make into teddies to remember, or a blanket.. ect.
The rest that I don’t want or keep gets given to charity ????????
I don’t know about all charities but I was told that some church based ones have lists of what others need so if they get something in particular they need they pass them on. They all swap according to what they have requests for. I think that is an excellent idea. There are some shelters that help Mums equip their new rental with basic essential things to get them started. Some manage to get back on their feet, get a small job and can afford the rent but have absolutely no money to buy the things needed because they have fled domestic violence and couldn’t take anything with them
We typically hand them down to our nephew or friends. If we hear of someone in need, we pass it onto them. Some of the more expensive items we sell on FB marketplace & the money from that goes to buying the next size clothes that our kids need.
I bag mine up and give them to charity. I am a school teacher and as my kids have gotten older I have bought them into school for my young classes to use too.
