Hello!

It’s really hard to choose a name for a boy baby – I’m worried that in a few years the name will be taken by girls.

  • There are so many things to consider when choosing a name. If you find a name you like, go with it.

  • Does it really matter if a girl ends up using the same name? There are already plenty of names that are used for both gender, and always will be new ones so I wouldn’t worry about being unable to predict the future. Just choose what you like.

  • Choose a name that you like, regardless of fads.

  • I just go with names I like and really don’t care if anyone else has it.

  • I’m not a fan of girls having boys names, but to each their own.

  • I think just go with what you like!!

  • As mentioned by a lot of other MoMs, just choose the name you like. You’ll come across different spellings, different pronunciations and perhaps it being a unisex name but if it’s a name you love then it will be fine.

  • My eldest boys name is Dylan and I’m suprised at how many girl Dylans We’ve met or heard of now. It did annoy me at first however over the last few years I’ve grown used to it. My 2nds Son middle name is Oliver and my little niece has Just been named Olive so each to their own with names. Choose something that you feel comftable with and that suits your child.

  • There are plenty of unisex names that are really nice and suit both genders. Don’t stress about it becoming unisex – if it were originally a boy name then it will take quite a while for people to accept as a girl name also.

  • I totally agree with the previous comment. Names go in trends as do most things and it will swing back. You have to name your children what you are happy with and not what it expect or what others are doing.

  • I think names tend to go in trend waves – they always have. When I was growing up there was an abundance of Karens, Alisons and Melissas – I don’t really come across many of those names now. There seems to be a trend currently of girls called Charley, Max and Dan at my kids’ schools. It doesn’t really bother me but I have tried to call our kids classic names which won’t date (hopefully).

  • Choosing a name is always a parent thing regardless of what is chosen. The poor child never gets a say till they are legal to change their name if they really dislike it. Parents have the call at birth but please think of the child through their growing tender years.

  • Some boy’s names are okay for girls like charlie, kym, jamie etc but some boy’s names would definitely be odd for girls like benjamin, henry, andrew etc. I guess my answer is it depends on the boy’s names.

  • We are currently trying to choose a girl name and I have been surprised at the number of names that I thought were boy’s names but that appear on the girl lists.

  • More accepting than boys being given girls names! My hubbys middle name is Courtney which I know can be a mans name but he got teased something awful at boarding school when they found out! I just think if you have a girl why give it a boys name. I have 2 boys looking forward to sane femininity in the house if my next one is a girl
