I have heard of Mums biting them the first time. You will find your baby’s nails will need cutting after a week or so unless your baby is premature. Toenails tend to not grow quite as quickly. Some hate having their toes touched so cutting those nails can be a bigger battle, especially if baby is a light sleeper. The only way my friend cut her elder child’s nails without a fuss was to wait until she was sound asleep. Then you could do anything with her. For that matter you still can. No kidding, we can sit her up and put her dressing gown on her and she is 8y.o. They could transfer her from her babyseat to stroller without her stirring at all, and viceversa. They even had her first pair of walking shoes fitted while she was asleep in her stroller, then went and had lunch, then got part way home before she woke up. I was with them and couldn’t believe my eyes. The younger one mostly stirs when you move his arms when you do up or release his restraint. Sometimes he wakes up completely, other times he stirs, opens his eyes and closes them again.
