Hello!

I’m not a very big fish eater but would like to try eat it at least once a week
I cannot stand tuna especially the smell so looking for something not really fishy
I see so many salmon recipes and hear about how healthy it is
So what does it taste like?
Any sauces or way to cook it to make it taste amazing?

  • I guess it depends on how you cook it.
You can make a nice lemon hollandaise sauce to mask the fishiness or you can also flake it and mix it in a salad with a strong dressing.

  • Melt some butter with parsley , garlic , pepper , salt , fresh squeeze lemon juice on low heat. ????

  • Salmon is so versatile! It tastes so different when it is prepared in different ways. Fresh salmon with crispy skin is delicious and tastes Completely different to smoked salmon which in turn is unrecognisable when it is tinned. I am with you I hate tuna but I love salmon

  • Salmon is pretty fishy tasting too. I’ld go for a white, non oily fish, like flathead, flounder, trevally and shark. With these, you get the benefits of eating fish without the overly fishy taste

  • I had salmon for dinner tonight – a piece like a fillet with crispy skin, didn’t need any sauce and had it with mash and vegies. Salmon asian style marinated is delicious too

  • Salmon is a great fish which is delicious and good for you too! My favourite salmon recipe is from taste.com.au – Fast Asian Fish. It’s very quick and easy and delicious!

  • try as small portion such as salmon sushi, my favourite. My family loves tuna not salmon, each to their own

  • Salmon is very nice
As to how to cook it, get it with skin on . season the skin with salt and pepper . Put it in a hot pan with oil skin side down, do this till the skin is crispy about 4 mins. then flip the fish over out lid on pan and let it cook for another 4- 5 mins, I love it this way

  • Salmon has it’s own flavour. You should sample to find out if you will enjoy it. Treat it like a steak and pan fry skin side down first. Medium rare is the best cook for this fish as overcooking makes it dry and chalky. Squeeze of lemon, or mix a little sweet chilli sauce with a dash of soy, or a pesto. Or even a hollandaise,\ to serve with. I love it with mash.

  • I am not a tuna fan but Love tinned salmon. I am not overly fond of fresh salmon as I find it a bit strong but a good tinned red salmon is lovely fresh, light and not overly fishy

  • You might want to try smoked salmon. I like smoked salmon in a salad or with cream cheese in a roll. You can even get smoked salmon on pizza!

  • Maybe start off with having salmon in pasta with a subtle sauce as this may be a way of introducing salmon into your diet. A salmon pasta bake is always good.

  • Salmon is quite strong in flavour if you are looking for someone without such a strong flavour I suggest you try ling or barramundi and work your way up to eating salmon

  • This is another delicious recipe I’ve tried different times, with coconut milk
