Hello!

I’ve tried many things to get rid of my daughter’s dummy, I’d love to hear some suggestions that you have.  Thanks.

  • How old is she? The older she is, the easier it is to reason and explain why the dummy has to go. They are great but difficult to give up

  • Plenty of suggestions !
We never gave our kids a dummy so didn’t have to deal with this issue.
However my daughter sucked her fingers. I did nail polish on her nails on a certain point and this helped her to stop as it tasted dirty.

  • When easter bunny comes tsll her to leave it out for him so she gets chocolate.

  • i dipped her dummies in lemon juice. she tried all of her dummies and hated it and then never looked back. dummy-less in less than an hour. =)

  • My son gave his to a store Santa so he could get the trike he wanted for Christmas.

  • My sister got her daughter to finally give them up to the dummy fairy and then she got to pick a doll – my niece was over 4… :/

  • We swapped my nieces dummy for a toy in the toy store. The checkout lady took the dummy and my niece took home a Barbie car. Cost us $20 though but worth it

  • Tie it to a helium balloon and explain that it is going to the fairies in the sky to give to a new baby.

  • We left my daughters bottles under the Christmas tree for Santa to take away, She was really excited to see them gone and replaced by presents.

  • Took our (then) nearly 2yo overseas and ‘forgot’ it at home. So she had to spend 3 months without it. Three week after being there, she forgot about it and never mentioned it again. Nearly 7months on and she just carries around her small blanket for comfort when she wants to sleep. The headache is worth it in the end.

  • I agree with Kasey – we did Santa – leaving the dummies with his “cookies & reindeer food” – never looked back. You should try the Easter Bunny – leave them out with a carrot & the Easter Bunny might take them away & leave her yummy chocolate instead!!

  • First we cut the teets, next we gave ours to santa in exchange for a present it worked a treat with no tantrums. Maybe you could do it with the easter bunny since its not that far away.
