Hello!

I just can’t get my head around this one… the obvious 18th gift is money! perhaps a very special meal out – depending on your daughter this may or may not be ‘it'; google suggests funding a big trip somewhere for them or friends; personal jewellery (but that is if they like rings and things); perhaps a photo-book through the years (but I know most kids hate at least some of the ‘baby pics’) or perhaps a photo book of mum and dad through the years; maybe just money.. but that is not personal is it? ummmm.. what would you do when that day finally comes for yours?

  • My girls got very special jewellery boxes

  • For my daughter I bought her an engraved dress watch and gave her a ring that I was given when I was her age. I also gave her a gift card so she could buy herself something nice because lets face it…that’s what they really want ;)

  • A ring/necklace with her birthstone

  • My mum bought me a beautiful heart shaped pendant for my 18th and I adored it, and adore it still!

  • I got a ring off my parents for my 18 and I hope that when my daughter turns 18 I can pass the tradition on to her

  • I have gifted 18 year old girls (very close friends of ours) a mix of – a watch, pandora charm, money, cosmetic gift card. It depends on their interests and what they already have, but I still believe it’s a very special occasion and one that warrants a special gift.

  • A photo in a frame

  • Lovely to read all the different ideas. But in the end it all depends on the type of personality your daughter is and what she likes; you know her best !

  • I would give a gift card for her to buy what she wants.

  • We got my son a watch engaged with a message from us. Although he doesn’t generally wear watches its something that he will keep and can wear for special occasions. I think my parents gave me a necklace – but honestly can’t remember!

  • A personalised good quality journal with her name on it, a beautiful writing pen (one of my favourite gifts was my very own parker pen – I loved that pen so much!), on the inside cover of the journal you write a personal message inspiring her to live her life to the fullest, dream big – that kind of thing. encourage her to use it write down her goals, her dreams, her wants and desires so she never looses focus on what she wants to achieve, and it will all be there in the special journal she got on her 18th birthday. She might not appreciate it straight away but over time she will treasure it.

  • I was given a signet ring and necklace with the number 18. I would have loved a locket with a photo of Mum and Dad on one half of the locket and me on the other for my 18th though. No matter what you get for her I’m sure she will treasure it forever.

  • I love the idea of the keepsakes box someone mentioned!

  • I was going to suggest jewellery, but it would have to be a special piece. A gold ring or necklace. Something that she can keep.
At Christmas we gave one of our daughters a canvas print of one of her favourite photos. She enjoys taking photos of the clouds at sunset, so I got her to show me one that she loves and I sneakily got that one printed. That was special for her.
What about an experience? A hot air balloon ride perhaps?
    :)

  • I bought my niece a Lindsay Muir frog sculpture as he is a favorite with our entire family. She was extremely excited to receive a piece of her very own.
My parents tradition was to buy us kids a good quality watch – most likely an Adina
